Capitol Chiropractic Takes Aim at Reducing Car Crash InjuriesSacramento, CA, May 23, 2007 — Capitol Chiropractic Buckle-Up Safe Day will be held on Wednesday May 30, 2007 from 8 a.m. to noon and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 9500 Micron Ave, #108, Sacramento, California. “Our “Buckle-Up Safe Day” is a great way to help prevent and/or reduce car crash injuries to adults and children”, said Dr. Jeri Anderson, DC. “It is our way of giving back to our community, through teaching simple skills that can make a meaningful difference in the safety and quality of people’s lives.” There are over 3 million whiplash injuries in the United States each year. Only half will fully recover; 10% will become disabled. A properly adjusted head restraint is one of the most powerful tools to help prevent or reduce whiplash injury. Amazingly, 80% of drivers do not properly adjust their head restraints. 97% of parents believe that they are using child restraint systems correctly; astonishingly, 89% are not. Only 10% of children who should be in a booster seat are in such a device. Yet high-back boosters reduce injury risk by 70%. Free adult head restraint safety checks will be provided. An afternoon program on the proper use of children’s car seats and booster seats will be provided by the Safety Center. Sacramento County Sheriff representatives will be on hand in the afternoon to answer safety questions and perform children’s finger printing. All are welcome to attend. “The Sacramento County Sheriffs are excited to be involved in such a great safety clinic”, said Officer Deb Coil, a Crime Prevention Specialist with the Sacramento County Sheriffs Department. “We truly appreciate the unique approach that Capitol Chiropractic has taken in support of families driving safety.” Dr. Jeri Anderson has her doctorate in Chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College-West. Dr. Anderson is a graduate of the Whiplash and Brain Traumatology certification program at the Spine Research Institute of San Diego. The program covers the entire spectrum from the physics of motor vehicle crashes to human biomechanics to diagnostics and management. Additionally, she is certified in the care of spinal trauma patients (CCST) by the International Chiropractors Association Council on Applied Chiropractic Sciences.
